MFF18 zet de wereld van ‘modest fashion’ binnen een Europese context voor het eerst in de kijker. Deze industrie wordt ondertussen geschat op een waarde van $44 miljard. Vele modemerken, gaande van internationale retailers tot nieuwe ontwerpers, wonen dit event bij om zich verder te verdiepen in alle facetten van modest fashion.

MFF18 kaart zowel de evolutie, als de opportuniteiten en valkuilen van deze modetrend aan. Bovendien zal tijdens een panelgesprek de toekomst van de sector besproken worden met Kaat Debo, directeur van het ModeMuseum, als moderator. Daarnaast werpen belangrijke stakeholders zoals designers, retailers, media en influencers licht op deze industrie die tot vandaag weinig aandacht kreeg in het Europese modelandschap. Door deskundige sprekers aan het woord te laten en hen vanuit hun eigen ervaring de industrie te laten belichten, kan iedereen iets bijleren over een markt waarvan leiders doorgaans moeilijk te bereiken zijn.

Mvslim organiseert in samenwerking met het ModeMuseum het eerste Modest Fashion Forum in Antwerpen, op 23 november 2018 in Arenberg. Tijdens deze eendaagse conferentie zullen zeven gastsprekers inzichten bieden in de wereld van modest fashion binnen een Europese context.

Mvslim, dat 4 jaar geleden werd opgericht, is een online platform dat met positieve storytelling het discours rond minderheden wil veranderen. Het platform bereikt een breed en internationaal publiek.

Modest Fashion Forum 2018 is an initiative, co-hosted by MoMu Fashion Museum Antwerp, to provide insights into the modest fashion industry in Europe. Modest fashion is a booming industry with a total spending of $44 billion – many fashion brands ranging from international designers to new designers are joining this modest mix to tap into this market’s potential.

MFF 2018 aims to highlight the evolution of this form of fashion, the industry opportunity and pitfalls as well as a panel that will discuss the future of the industry within Europe. Featuring key European stakeholders from the fashion industry (designers, retailers, media and influencers), we’ll share expert knowledge.

1) Sarah Dimani
A Belgium based influencer, Sarah Dimani, was the first veiled woman to be featured as a cover girl on one of the most popular women’s magazines in Belgium, Flair.

2) Abigayle André
Abigayle André is the director and designer of Modessa UK. A British Made Modest Fashion brand.

3) Mariah Idrissi
The first hijab-wearing model for the global brand H&M's Close the Loop campaign. She has also been a public speaker and an advocate for self-expression among young women in the fashion industry.

4) Lisa Bridgett
Lisa Bridgett, the COO of The Modist. The Modist: an e-commerce site deemed the Net-a-Porter of modest clothing is a worldwide one-stop shop for luxury fashion.

5) Kaat Debo
Kaat Debo, Director at MoMu- a premier Fashion Museum in Antwerp will join us in moderating the panel.

6) Sagal Shire
Sagal is a fashion/ lifestyle influencer who currently resides in London, she draws her fashion inspiration from her cultural background to create her own style.

7) Elspeth Jenkins
Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, Elspeth Jenkins, will participate as a panelist- representing Marie Claire: providing insights into modest fashion and where it's headed from the perspective of a fashion magazine.

8) Enaam Ali
Enaam, co-founded Nesci Fashion, a modest fashion line that is targeted at women that want to dress modestly on a daily basis regardless of religion.
She also consults companies on how to reach the Muslim target group within Europe without pushing away other target groups.
